We take responsible cannabis use seriously. This page is about keeping you, the people around you, and our community safe.
Start low. Go slow
This is especially important for edibles, which can take 30–90 minutes to take effect. Many overconsumption incidents happen because people don't feel anything and take more too soon.
- Begin with 2.5–5 mg THC for edibles if you're new or restarting after a break.
- Wait at least 2 hours before considering more.
- Effects from inhalation (flower, vapes) are faster — typically within minutes — but still start with one small puff and wait.
- Higher THC doesn't always mean a better experience. Ask our budtenders for guidance.
Don't drive impaired
Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in Minnesota and dangerous. Cannabis impairs reaction time, judgment, and coordination.
- Minnesota law prohibits driving with any THC metabolites in your system that cause impairment.
- Unlike alcohol, there is no reliable roadside THC level — impairment is assessed by officers.
- Plan ahead: use a rideshare, designate a sober driver, or wait until you're confident you're unimpaired.
Keep cannabis away from kids and pets
Store all cannabis products in their original, child-resistant packaging, locked away and out of reach. Edibles can look like regular food — label clearly and never leave them unattended. Cannabis is toxic to dogs and cats. If a pet ingests cannabis, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center immediately.
Pregnancy & breastfeeding
The U.S. Surgeon General advises against cannabis use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. THC can pass through the placenta and breast milk. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your healthcare provider.
Know where you can consume
In Minnesota, cannabis may be consumed in private residences. Public consumption and on-site retail consumption are not permitted under current state law. Check the Minnesota OCM website for the most current rules, as regulations continue to evolve.
